The Wise Practice Case Database (WPCD) project documents innovative practices of teachers through multimedia video cases. The overarching WPCD project goal reflects the capturing and disseminating of a variety of innovative teaching strategies, particularly ones that are difficult to observe and model in short-term teaching observations. Each case consists of instructional lesson plans and other artifacts, classroom video, and interviews with the teacher and students. These are available to teachers and teacher educators across the United States.

The WPCD was developed with the support of a gift from Dr. Mendel Sherman to the School of Education at Indiana University Bloomington. Dr. Sherman was a faculty member from 1955 to 1975 in the School of Education and has a legacy as a pioneer in the use of educational technology. This generous gift from Dr. Mendel Sherman provides the opportunity to expand the work in capturing and disseminating exceptional teaching practices. It will also assist the Learning, Design, and Adult Education department at Indiana University Bloomington in continuing to prepare future leaders in our field for years to come.

Additional funding for the WPCD has been provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the US Department of Education, the Indiana University School of Education, and the Auburn University College of Education.
